BSP Chief Mayawati Rebukes Government and Opposition Over Competitive Exam Paper Leaks, Demands Systemic Reform Over Political Opportunism

BSP Chief Mayawati has strongly criticized both the ruling government and opposition parties over ongoing student protests at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar regarding NEET-UG and competitive exam paper leaks. She urged political leaders to end partisan games, address youth mental distress and exam transparency, and build robust institutional mechanisms for systemic education reforms.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati has strongly criticized both the ruling government and the opposition parties regarding the ongoing student agitation at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over alleged paper leaks in competitive examinations, including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). She asserted that both sides are indulging purely in political maneuvering while completely disregarding the fundamental need for comprehensive educational reforms. The former Chief Minister emphasized that instead of viewing youth angst and demands for examination transparency through a partisan lens, the administration must focus urgently on structural and systemic fixes.

Addressing the widespread dissatisfaction among students across the country following alleged paper leaks in NEET-UG and other national competitive tests, Mayawati highlighted that candidate distress, severe mental trauma, and reported suicides have escalated nationwide concern. Under these critical circumstances, the peaceful demonstration staged by students at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar is garnering widespread public sympathy. However, a sharp political clash between the government and opposition has intensified over demands for the resignation of the Union Education Minister, escalating into a competitive race among political entities from parliamentary floors to city streets. This partisan friction has spilled over into multiple states, creating localized tension and unrest, leading Mayawati to urge her party cadre to exercise utmost vigilance and restraint.

The situation has been further aggravated by forceful police action against the peacefully protesting students at Jantar Mantar. Mayawati condemned the law enforcement response, stating that heavy-handed measures have deepened youth resentment and raised serious questions regarding government accountability. In a vibrant democratic framework, peaceful student demonstrations must be addressed through constructive dialogue rather than administrative suppression. Furthermore, she expressed deep concern over the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, where relentless confrontation between the treasury and opposition benches has repeatedly disrupted legislative proceedings, hindering vital debates on public welfare and eroding administrative oversight.

Critiquing the current governmental response, Mayawati pointed out that focusing solely on punitive action against culprits after paper leaks occur is insufficient. She stressed that true resolution requires establishing robust institutional mechanisms that prevent paper leak occurrences entirely. Without eradicating systemic corruption, official negligence, and structural vulnerabilities within the examination framework, post-incident enforcement cannot provide a permanent remedy. In conclusion, Mayawati exhorted her party workers and supporters to avoid becoming aggressive or disheartened in the prevailing charged atmosphere, urging them instead to remain steadfastly committed to social justice, quality education, and safeguarding the future of the nation's youth.
